WPL 2025: Key Players Retained by RCB, Mumbai Indians
As the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 auction approaches, teams are setting their rosters. Defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), last year’s winners Mumbai Indians, and runners-up Delhi Capitals have retained their core squads. Out of five teams, four kept 14 players, while UP Warriorz held onto 15.
RCB made headlines by releasing England captain Heather Knight and her replacement, Nadine de Klerk. They gained Danielle Wyatt through a trade with UP Warriorz.
Mumbai Indians let go of Issy Wong, known for her historic WPL hat-trick, as Shabnim Ismail took over the pacer spot. Delhi Capitals released Poonam Yadav and Australian batter Laura Harris due to limited playtime.
UP Warriorz cut Parshavi Chopra, Laxmi Yadav, and England’s Lauren Bell, while keeping a solid budget for the auction.
In a surprise move, Gujarat Giants dropped all-rounder Sneh Rana, who led the team last season in place of Beth Mooney. Veteran Veda Krishnamurthy was also released due to low batting stats. The Giants now enter the auction with the largest budget.
